Not much to write about this week - next week we'll have some big news but for now I want to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for?
Hi everyone - I hope you are enjoying this mild weather... it seems to be confusing the plants as well as the people. We never know how to dress in the morning - or if we should change half way through the day! We're wearing gloves in the morning and then leaving our sweaters behind in the afternoon. I'm not complaining though - it's my favourite time of year when the leaves change.
Speaking of leaves (he he), the Pergola leaves will be on display in the Discovery Centre (the Museum at the old CP Station) from November of this year until around May of next year. I'll certainly update you when we have everything confirmed but we hope you will be able to make it to view the leaves and read the stories that make up our community. Since the construction is ongoing in front of the Museum and we can't set a date to put the leaves on the pergola (and we're not so cruel as to have someone out there in January!), we've decided to wait until spring to officially open the pergola. We'll keep you posted on that as well. It's going to be so exciting!!
Not only will the pergola be opening but the majority of work on the Civic Plaza will be complete as well. I believe they are preparing to put the bricks in any time now if they haven't started already. What a great community gathering place!
I hope you are all enjoying the stories on www.waterfrontpergola.ca. I've been posting them on our Facebook page as well and getting great response. I'm guessing each of you know at least one person on there already - have you thought about who you would honour?
Get out there and enjoy the beautiful colours - it's quite a view from the top of the spiral mound!

We've had so many requests for Leaf #1 on the pergola (See Pergola tab on the left to find out more or visit www.waterfrontpergola.ca), but that leaf was the first sold and it was purchased by our very own Hariett Madigan for her mother Marie Johnson. I've attached Marie's story for you to read. Who has inspired you?
Stories from the Leaves of Inspiration Pergola
Hi everyone! Today I've decided to share with you one of my favourite stories from the Leaves of Inspiration pergola. This is the story Dr. Gary Shulman's family wrote about him. All of the stories shared are wonderful, but this one really touched me as I was lucky enough to have Dr. Shulman as a teacher in high school. He was an inspirational man and anyone I know who also had him as a teacher only has great memories to share. I hope you find the story touching as well.
